Singing, Dancing and Acting Classes in Rainham for Children and Young People

What a brilliant first day back we had at MAPA Rainham!

After the summer break, it was wonderful to welcome our students back to Medway Academy of Performing Arts — and even more exciting to meet so many new students joining the MAPA family for the very first time! From the moment they arrived, our young performers filled the room with energy, enthusiasm, teamwork and passion for the Performing Arts.

Our teachers were completely wowed by the commitment, confidence and positivity shown throughout the day. It was the perfect reminder of why MAPA is such a special place for children and young people who love to Sing, Dance, Act and Perform!

For parents searching for Performing Arts classes in Rainham, Dance classes in Medway, Singing classes for children, Acting classes in Kent, or Musical Theatre classes in Medway, MAPA Rainham offers an exciting, supportive and professional environment where children aged 3–18 can grow in confidence, make friends and develop lifelong creative skills.

A Warm Welcome Back After the Summer Break

Returning to classes after the summer holidays is always an exciting moment. For some students, it is a chance to reconnect with friends, teachers and routines they already know and love. For others, especially our new students, it is the beginning of a brand-new journey into the world of Performing Arts.

At MAPA Rainham, we were delighted to see both current and new students settle so quickly into classes. The atmosphere was full of joy, focus and excitement, with students throwing themselves into every Singing, Dancing and Acting activity.

September is one of the best times of year to start a new club. A new school year brings fresh energy, new goals and the opportunity for children to try something different. For many young people, joining a Performing Arts school can be a fantastic way to build confidence, make new friends and find a positive creative outlet outside school. Whether your child is naturally confident or a little nervous about trying something new, MAPA provides a welcoming space where every student is encouraged, supported and celebrated.

What Happens at MAPA Rainham?

MAPA Rainham runs every Saturday from 10am–1pm at The Howard School, Rainham.

Each week, students take part in three specialist hour-long classes:

  • Singing

  • Dancing

  • Acting

This means every student receives a full performing arts experience each week, helping them develop as well-rounded young performers.

Our classes are taught by experienced, industry-trained professionals who understand how to inspire children and young people. Our teachers bring expertise, energy and care into every session, helping students build skills while feeling safe, confident and excited to take part.

For families looking for Singing classes in Rainham, Dance classes in Rainham, Drama classes in Medway, or Musical Theatre training in Kent, MAPA Rainham offers high-quality teaching in a fun and supportive environment.

Singing Classes That Build Confidence

Singing is a powerful way for children to develop confidence, musicality and self-expression. At MAPA, students work on vocal technique, rhythm, pitch, performance quality and singing as part of an ensemble.

For many children, singing in front of others can feel daunting at first. However, with the right encouragement and support, students quickly begin to find their voice. They learn how to listen to one another, blend as a group and perform with growing confidence.

Our Singing classes for children help students develop not only musical skills, but also communication, focus and self-belief. These are skills that support them far beyond the rehearsal room — in school, friendships, presentations and everyday life.

Dance Classes in Medway That Bring Energy and Joy

Dance is always a highlight at MAPA Rainham, and today our students brought incredible energy to the room. Through dance classes, students develop coordination, rhythm, movement memory, fitness, teamwork and stage presence. They learn choreography, work together as an ensemble and discover how movement can tell a story.

For parents searching for Dance classes in Medway or Dance classes in Rainham for children, MAPA offers classes that are energetic, creative and confidence-building. Students are encouraged to give their best, support one another and enjoy the process of learning.

Dance is not only about steps and routines. It teaches resilience, discipline and teamwork — especially when students work together to prepare for performances.

Acting and Drama Classes That Help Children Find Their Voice

Acting is at the heart of confidence-building. Through drama games, improvisation, scripts, character work and storytelling, students learn how to communicate clearly, use their imagination and perform in front of others.

For children who are naturally expressive, acting gives them a creative outlet. For children who are quieter or less confident, drama can help them take small steps towards speaking up, joining in and trusting themselves.

Our acting and drama classes in Kent help students develop:

  • Confidence speaking in front of others

  • Communication skills

  • Creativity and imagination

  • Teamwork

  • Emotional expression

  • Listening and focus

  • Character and storytelling skills

At MAPA Rainham, we love seeing students grow in confidence week by week. Sometimes the biggest progress comes from the smallest moments — a student volunteering an idea, joining in with a group, performing a line, or smiling with pride after trying something new.

Why Performing Arts Classes Are So Valuable for Children

Performing Arts classes offer far more than singing, dancing and acting training. They help children develop skills that are essential for life.

At MAPA, students build:

  • Confidence and self-belief

  • Social skills

  • Communication skills

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Resilience and perseverance

  • Creativity and imagination

  • Focus and discipline

  • Friendships and a sense of belonging

These skills support children at school, at home and in the wider world. Many parents notice that their child becomes more confident, more sociable and more willing to try new things after joining MAPA.

Today at MAPA Rainham, we saw all of these skills in action. Students worked together, encouraged one another, listened carefully, learned new material and showed a real passion for performing. It was a fantastic start to the new term.

A Place to Make Friends and Be Part of the MAPA Family

One of the most special things about MAPA is the community our students create.

Performing arts naturally brings young people together. Students rehearse together, perform together, laugh together and support one another. Over time, they form friendships that can last for years.

For new students joining MAPA Rainham today, it was lovely to see how quickly they were welcomed into the group. Our current students showed kindness, teamwork and maturity, helping new members feel included and part of the MAPA family.

For parents looking for a children’s club where their child can make friends, build confidence and feel truly supported, MAPA is a wonderful place to start.

Performance Opportunities at MAPA

At Medway Academy of Performing Arts, performance is at the heart of what we do.

Students take part in exciting opportunities throughout the year, including:

  • Summer Showcase

  • Christmas Showcase

  • MAPA’s annual Summer Youth Musical

These performances allow students to put their skills into practice and experience the excitement of live theatre. They help children develop stage confidence, teamwork, commitment and pride in their achievements.

For students aged 10 and above, MAPA’s Summer Youth Musical provides an incredible opportunity to audition for and perform in a full-scale musical theatre production. Previous productions have included Les Misérables: School Edition, and our most recent Summer Youth Musical was Grease the Musical.

For young people interested in musical theatre classes in Medway or those who dream of performing on stage, these opportunities are an unforgettable part of the MAPA experience.
