When parents search for dance classes in Medway, they are often looking for more than just a weekly activity. They want something that helps their child grow in confidence, develop new skills, and make friends in a positive environment.
At Medway Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA), Dance is one of three core disciplines that students learn every week alongside Singing and Acting. This triple-threat training helps children develop confidence, creativity and performance skills while having an incredible amount of fun.

MAPA runs weekly performing arts classes across two locations in Medway. MAPA Chatham takes place every Wednesday from 5pm–8pm at Waterfront UTC, while MAPA Rainham runs every Saturday from 10am–1pm at The Howard School, Rainham. During each session, students take part in three hour-long classes of Singing, Dancing and Acting, ensuring they develop a well-rounded set of performing arts skills.
Dance training offers children many physical and emotional benefits. Through dance, students improve coordination, flexibility, balance and musical awareness. Just as importantly, they learn discipline and perseverance as they practise routines and work together as a team.
At MAPA, all classes are delivered by experienced and industry-trained professionals who understand how to support young people while challenging them to grow. Students learn new dance techniques, performance skills and choreography while developing confidence in a supportive environment.
Performance is also a big part of the MAPA experience. Every student takes part in at least two productions each year – the Summer Showcase and the Christmas Showcase. These performances give students the exciting opportunity to perform on stage in front of a live audience and celebrate everything they have learned.
For students aged 10 and above, there is also the opportunity to audition for MAPA’s annual Summer Youth Musical, an exciting full-scale theatre production that gives young performers real experience rehearsing and performing in a musical.
Parents choose MAPA not only for the quality of training but also for the community it creates. Students build confidence, improve communication skills, develop teamwork abilities and make lifelong friends along the way.
Every new student is entitled to a Free Trial, allowing families to experience a MAPA class before committing. Parents and carers can choose to pay termly or monthly, one month in advance of their class. Many families prefer the monthly option as it provides greater flexibility.
If you are looking for dance classes in Medway that inspire confidence, creativity and friendship, MAPA could be the perfect place for your child!
