West End star and MAPA patron, Gemma Scholes

At MAPA, we believe in inspiring our students not just through expert teaching, but by connecting them with professionals who have truly lived the dream. That’s why we are incredibly proud to have the brilliant Gemma Scholes as our patron.

Gemma’s performing arts journey is nothing short of inspiring. She has graced stages across the world as Miss Honey in the Matilda the Musical international tour and shone in London’s West End, where she played the Acrobat and was first cover Miss Honey and Mrs Wormwood. Audiences may also remember her as Inga in Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, directed by the legendary Susan Stroman, where she made her dazzling West End debut and in 42nd Street in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet choreographed by world-renowned, Stephen Mear.

But beyond the footlights and curtain calls, Gemma remains deeply connected to her roots. Growing up in the Medway towns, Gemma knows first-hand how vital local opportunities in the arts can be—and that’s exactly why she’s such a perfect fit for MAPA.

Gemma is more than just our patron—she’s a cherished part of our MAPA family. When she’s not on stage, she regularly teaches and covers classes for us, bringing her professional insight and infectious passion into the room. Her presence is an inspiration for our young performers, showing them just how far dedication and talent can take you.

At MAPA, we offer Singing, Dancing, and Acting classes for children aged 3 to 18. Our sessions run every Saturday from 10am–1pm in Rainham, and every Wednesday from 5pm–8pm in Chatham - both of which Gemma has visited and taught in.

With a team of expert teachers, our focus goes beyond performance—we’re all about boosting confidence, encouraging teamwork, and building vital social skills in a supportive and fun environment.

Gemma’s journey is proof of where passion, hard work and the right support can lead. We’re honoured to have her backing our students every step of the way, and we can’t wait to see the stars of tomorrow shine under her guidance.

If you'd like your child to discover their voice, move with confidence, and grow through the arts, there’s a place waiting for them at MAPA.
