For many parents searching for Drama classes in Kent, the goal is to help their child build confidence, develop social skills and learn to express themselves creatively.

Acting is an incredible tool for helping young people find their voice. Through drama and theatre exercises, children learn how to communicate clearly, think creatively and work together as a team.

At Medway Academy of Performing Arts, Acting is one of the three key disciplines students learn every week alongside singing and Dancing. MAPA runs weekly classes for children aged 3–18, helping young performers develop essential creative skills while enjoying a supportive and welcoming environment.

Classes take place at two locations across Medway. MAPA Chatham runs on Wednesdays from 5pm–8pm at Waterfront UTC, and MAPA Rainham runs on Saturdays from 10am–1pm at The Howard School, Rainham. Each session includes three hour-long classes of Singing, Dancing and Acting, giving students a complete musical theatre education.

Acting classes focus on storytelling, character work, improvisation and stage performance. Students learn how to project their voice, interpret scripts and work collaboratively with other performers. These skills translate directly into everyday life, helping children feel more confident in school presentations, social situations and group activities.

All classes at MAPA are taught by industry-trained and experienced professionals who bring real theatre knowledge into the classroom. Their supportive teaching style ensures that every student feels valued and encouraged to participate.

Throughout the year, students work towards two exciting stage productions – the Summer Showcase and the Christmas Showcase. Performing on stage helps children overcome nerves and build resilience while experiencing the thrill of live theatre.

Students aged 10 and above also have the opportunity to audition for the MAPA Summer Youth Musical, a full-scale musical theatre production that brings together talented young performers from across Medway and Kent.

MAPA is not just about performing arts training – it is about building confidence, developing teamwork skills and creating friendships t

hat last for years. Students learn resilience, communication skills and collaboration through every rehearsal and performance.

All new students can attend a Free Trial class, allowing children and parents to experience the academy before committing. Payment options are flexible, with families able to pay termly or monthly, one month in advance of their class.

For families looking for high-quality drama classes in Kent, MAPA offers an inspiring environment where children can grow both creatively and personally.
