Young Performers Across Medway and Kent Prepare for an Exciting Original Production

There is great excitement across Medway Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) as students from our Infant and Junior Academies rehearse for their original devised production of The Jungle Book.
Over recent weeks, our talented young performers have been busy learning songs, choreography, acting scenes and ensemble routines as they prepare to transport audiences deep into the heart of the jungle in this imaginative and energetic performance.
Students from across Rainham, Chatham, Gillingham, Faversham, Medway and Kent have been working incredibly hard during rehearsals, developing their performance skills while building confidence, friendships and unforgettable memories along the way.
A Creative Performing Arts Experience for Young Children
At MAPA, we believe children learn best when they are encouraged to explore their imagination, creativity and confidence in a supportive environment.
Our Infant Academy (ages 6–8) and Junior Academy (ages 8–10) take part in weekly specialist training in:
🎤 Singing
💃 Dancing
🎭 Acting

During each session, students participate in three hour-long classes of Singing, Dancing and Acting, all taught by industry-trained and experienced teachers who are experts in working with children and young people.
Bringing The Jungle Book to the Stage
Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and the much-loved Disney classic, MAPA’s original devised version of The Jungle Book promises to be full of adventure, energy and creativity.
Students have been working collaboratively to create:
🌿 Dynamic jungle-themed choreography
🐒 Fun and engaging character performances
🎶 Exciting musical numbers and harmonies
🎭 Creative storytelling and ensemble scenes
Through rehearsals, students are learning how to develop characters, work as part of a team and perform confidently on stage.
From playful monkeys and mysterious snakes to brave wolves and powerful jungle leaders, every student has an important role to play in bringing the jungle to life.
Developing Confidence Through Performing Arts
Productions like The Jungle Book are about so much more than simply putting on a show.
At MAPA, students build:
✔ Confidence and self-belief
✔ Social and communication skills
✔ Teamwork and collaboration
✔ Creativity and imagination
✔ Resilience and discipline
✔ Performance and stage skills
Children also develop the confidence to express themselves, try new things and support one another as part of a team.
The joy and excitement students experience during rehearsals is truly wonderful to see. Every week, children arrive enthusiastic and eager to spend time with their friends and their wider MAPA family.
